Control Room Operator Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Shift Team Leader (STL) and general supervision of the Operations Manager, Control Room Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and environmentally sound operation of process systems and equipment. The role involves making regular plant inspections and assisting the STL in daily plant operations.

Control Room Operator Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ), actively encouraging and leading staff to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements.
  • Ensure safe, environmental, and statutory compliant operation and maintenance of plant equipment by monitoring, inspecting, recording, and controlling plant parameters.
  • Operate the plant within safety and environmental standards, identifying and reporting any deviations.
  • Respond effectively to operational demands, achieving safe and efficient generation within prescribed limits.
  • Identify and report accidents, incidents, near misses, and plant defects promptly.
  • Conduct first-line maintenance, fault diagnosis, and documentation completion in line with safety and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and review of operational procedures and safety documentation.
  • Cover for Plant Attendant when required and positively represent the role of Site Operations Technician and the Operations Department.

Control Room Operator Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training Certifications:

  • A Level or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • NVQ preferred.
  • HSE accredited training qualifications desirable.

Control Room Operator Job Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Power Industry or similar industry.
  • Familiarity with HSE standards, procedures, and control plant operations in a safe and efficient manner.

  • IT Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft packages and computerized maintenance systems.

Control Room Operator Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of plant operation procedures, methods, and equipment.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Language: English proficiency.
